Reflection Of Semester 1

I have completed semesters recently which made me a capable student. Self-reflection process is helpful for me to analyse the different situations regarding the previous semester. As I reflect back to semester 1, I have identified that it was quite tough for me, but it also helped me a lot to know my strengths as well as weaknesses. In my semester 1, I worked with different individuals or group project regarding the Business Operations and Management. I identified from the group projects that I have good communication and teamwork skills. During group projects, I confidently communicated with the team members and expressed my creative ideas and opinions regarding the topic. Moreover, effective communication is the key which facilitates timely completion of the project by avoiding the duplication (Franco et al, 2022). I also utilised my past learning regarding the business and operations management in semester 1 projects. Throughout working on the project, I learnt that I have good decision-making skills as I made various decisions regarding tasks and activities.

However, in the beginning of the semester, I also felt lot of difficulties regarding time management. I realised through working in team that I was weak in managing time. Compare to other students, I took more time for completing one activity which impacted my work as well as my learning process. I felt like I can manage time but I also had to do other things simultaneously and my time management skill became very weak. Additionally, I also realised that I had poor paraphrasing skills and I often felt complications when I had to make any report. Moreover, to adhere with the academic integrity aspect focus need to be placed on good use of referencing and paraphrasing (Zimmerman, 2023). I realised that I need to improve my paraphrasing skills so that I can write plagiarism-free reports and essays. Further, by team and individual projects, I realised that I am also weak in research skills. Due to my weak research skills, I was not able to search about the topic and make complete project effectively. Overall, the learning journey in semester 1 is quite difficult but I focused on improving my weak skills so that I can successfully completed the semester.

Reflection Of Semester 2

After successfully passed semester 1, I entered into semester 2. I realised that this semester was quite good easiest for me as compared to the semester 1. Moreover, the first semester was new experience for me and I did not know about many things. Nevertheless, I honestly believed that semester 1 highly contributed to my semester 2. Initial year learning experience helped me to perform different tasks and activities related to my course in the next learning phase. Previous semester enabled me to know my abilities which I used in carried out the projects and assignments in the next semester. It also helped me in knowing my areas of improvement which was good for me as I made strategies to improve my weak areas so that it could not impact my learning outcomes in semester 2. Learning which I gained from semester one helped me to manage my daily tasks. During this semester, I had opportunities to learn from my past mistakes and used more effective strategies to manage my time. I made time table and separate activities into the smaller sections (Wolters and Brady, 2021). I also prioritise tasks when I worked on any project. It helped me to complete the essential first then I moved to next activity according to schedule. This technique saved my time and energy and improves my learning outcomes.

Furthermore, due to semester 1, I was able to do paraphrasing while writing the reports and essays. I took guidance from my mentor and it helped me in knowing the different ways to do correct paraphrasing. In semester 2, I understand the statements which are written by authors & researchers and then carefully restated the sentences. I also concentrated on my vocabulary, grammar and writing. Apart from this, after writing report or essay, I always proofread to detect any mistakes. In addition to this, I worked on my research skills. I have identified that research ability is useful for a learner to search, extract, manage, evaluate and utilise present information which is relevant to particular topic (Vieno, Rogers and Campbell, 2022). I took help from online resources like online tutorials and learned about techniques and methods to improve my research skills. In my semester 2, I became capable to investigate about any subject related topic in depth manner. I followed a systematic process to analyse the topic and use relevant website to collect information. Research ability also assisted me in identifying the quality sources to gather reliable information. In semester 1, I learned different areas of the business operations and I utilised this knowledge to gain advanced knowledge about this field. I used my communication skills which is one of my major strengths while solving the group tasks. Moreover, I worked on my critical thinking skills during semester 2 so that I can become proficient in problem-solving as well as decision making abilities which are useful for a learner. Both skills allowed me throughout the semester to identify multiple solutions to problem and choose best solution. Overall, the semester facilitated me to enhance learning outcomes and improve and provided me a best learning experiences.

Conclusion

As per above analysis, it is concluded that self-reflection is beneficial way to reflect on past situation. It allowed me to analyse the difficulties which I experienced in semester 1 and with the help of this semester, I became capable enough to perform excellent in next semester. I focused on my weak skills such as; time management, paraphrasing and research skills. I will utilise my learnings of both semester when I move into L4 study. I will use my communication, time management, decision-making, research and paraphrasing skills to make excellent report regarding course.
