The government of the U.K believes that aviation is one of the largest global industries and the emission challenges are as large as the industry. It is important that the U.K government has taken up many intrinsic and extrinsic methods to pertain to sustainability within the roots of the aviation industry. The government has not only proposed sustainability methods for the aircraft carriers but also the airports and on-ground conditions. It is already observed that the aviation industry has come a long way from previous conditions of non-sustainability. In the present condition, the U.K government is planning to implement technology to implement perpetual sustainability so that the environmental effects can be minimized in the case of low-cost carriers.

Focus on sustainable travel

Change is the obvious thing that has happened over the last decade in the U.K low-cost carrier industry in the transport sector. It is obvious over the fact that the low-cost carriers' transport system is framed within specified business conditions over time. Previously it has been observed that the LCC prospect has been confined to a specific place that needed mass transportation. It is with change in time that the concept has been well accepted in all parts of the country and favored overall (Cocolas et al. 2020). The focus behind the LCC move has been the fact that the number of customers increased with time, leading to the production of large carriers that can carry more people.

It implemented sustainable business for the airline's organization as well as the consumers. It has been identified that the cost of the tickets has been lowered to accommodate maximized passengers. On the other hand, the fuel consumption to transport each person has been lowered and the cost of running has also decreased. This has led to the increase in sustainability within the last decade of the LCC business system. The form of the business idea led to the development of major aviation industries that include Ryanair, Airttran, Jetblue, and Westjet aviation organizations mainly focusing on low-cost carriers. It has been observed that with such a drastic and fast evaluation of the industry the concept of The Future of Air Transport White Paper has been almost demolished (Glover et al. 2018). It has been observed that the supremeness in aviation always demotivates sustainability in the sector.

With the use of large carriers and less jet fuel consumption, the carbon emissions of the organization have dressed with time. It has also been observed that the government has eased the consumption of fossil fuels for the on-ground transport vehicles used in airports. It has been observed that the use of clean energy vehicles contributes to the sustainability maintenance of the aviation industry of the U.K.

Aviation statistics

It is evident to understand the aviation statistics of the organization it is important to understand the steps taken by the government. The initial step is stated to be the cancellation of the third runway of the Heathrow international airport. The step of cancellation of additional runways at the Gatwick and Stansted airports (Lee et al. 2021). This led to the consumption of fuel for the carriers to access extra runways. Apart from that, accessing extra runways promotes major carbon emissions and maintenance costs. It has been observed that the most used aircraft carrier presence in the U.K territory is the AIRBUS A320. It has led to the fact that it can accommodate the maximum number of people at the lowest consumption of fuel. It has also been observed that the number of passengers has increased to 32.35 billion which indicates a rise of almost 34% of passengers.

It has also been observed that in the case to maintain sustainability, the government of the nation has implemented long flights that cover a distance of almost 262.1 Km. The cost management sustainability led to the connectivity with non-popular destinations that include Egypt, Morocco, and Israel (Assets, 2022). Apart from this, the government has ideated to bring in aviation within the European Emissions trading system that will help in the overall monitoring and competition of airlines emission around the world. Apart from emissions, aviation industries have also worked on the noise of the engines. The previous aircraft committed to sound pollution as well and the present technology have taken a toll on the maintenance of the sustainability factor of the organization.

Concerns regarding low-cost carrier

Previously there have been major concerns regarding the low-cost carriers because they were new to the market. The use of these aircraft was not perpetuated with attractive business plans and people did not prefer it for major reasons. In terms of the technical consideration, it can be said that the initial carriers had low fuel tanks that did not allow the carrier to take up long flights. It is with the implementation of technological innovation amongst the major organizations like Boeing and Airbus, that this concept is demolished. The organization has created major carriers like the AIRBUS A320, which possess less powerful engines and larger fuel tanks that support long flights (Sciencedirectassets, 2022). It is based on the fact that the seating capacity of the previous light was quite low and less in speed. The organization improved on these aspects as well within a decade's time to make air travel more convenient with time.

Market evolution of European LCC

The market evolution is based on the concepts of the business processes that are applied by the organization as well as the government in order to make the LCC transport system more effective. This in turn supported the motive that more consumers are able to access the transport system, making the sector flourish with sustainability. It has been observed that the government of the nation has focused on implementing sustainability within the aviation sector of the U.K (Kantenbacher et al. 2018). It has ordered the Department of Transport to suggest and frame sustainable business plans in order to increase their toll on low-cost carriers. It is done with the motive to attract consumers from maximum destinations all over the world. The next big thing that has been proposed by the government is the implementation of the airport regulation of the economy.

It focuses on the fact that the expenses of the airport are managed through a data-driven technique that can help in the improvisation of resources at appropriate levels of the economy. The government proposes it to be a data-driven management program. The government is also planning to implement sustainability by using the resources of the airport at its maximum and utilizing support at the least possible cost and emissions. In terms of carbon emissions, the government has planned to collaborate with the Committee of Climate Change (CCC) in order to maintain the emissions (Amankwah-Amoah, 2020). The government has identified that only reducing emissions is not the only way to maintain sustainability. It can be achieved by maintaining CSR for the aviation sector.

Perspective of passengers

According to the perspectives of the passenger, it is important to deliver on the fact that the passenger care has also been taken into consideration by the government of the U.K. The government has been focusing on the implementation of the consumer experience within the aviation sector. The government plans to achieve it over the steps that the airport needs to renovate with larger spaces and better amenities (Abate et al. 2020). According to a report it has been observed that Heathrow airport is the busiest taking up almost 180 million passengers a year. In order to cater to such a large number of people of national and international origin, it is important to focus on its amenities and ease of space.

The change that has happened over the last decade also involves the government's plan to include regimes of financial protection for aviation consumers. It will be renowned as the Air Travel Organizers’ Licensing (ATOL) that can be transformed through holiday package systems (Klophaus and Fichert, 2019). It is believed that it will help the consumers understand the valuation of the p[ackages and help in the maintenance of their funds. It is important to do so because it helps in contributing toward the Air travel trust fund of the nation.

Conclusion

The major focus is on the redundancy of the aviation industry with the use of LCC. It has been initiated over a long time and has been improving over the decade. It is the use of major government steps to implement sustainability within the aviation sector of the country. The government is planning for the betterment of the aviation industry by introducing various schemes. Implementing sustainability is also a larger motive that the government is responding to. The aim is to reduce the emission of CO2 within the industry to minimalist levels by 2050 which may provide an effective impact on the climate change issue of the industry. A conclusion can be drawn that the aviation industry has been updating with time, and it is important for the industry to move towards a clean energy future in terms of the business as the technology used for aviation of Low-cost carriers.
