“Visual Thinking Strategies” is one type of non-profit organization associated with the education system. In nursing, VTS is one type of method, which is direct, associated with critical thinking and with communication-skills. VTS helps a nurse increase their communication skills and focus on the topic carefully. Increasing the observation skills of a student is the focus of these strategies. Practical application of these visual strategies helps to develop a good observer within us.

Stage 1: Description of the event/experience

To increase the observation skills and the communication skills of medical professionals, nowadays-visual thinking strategies are the most important part. In the art gallery, Students were instructed to slow down and observe all the artwork very closely to find the different perspectives of that artwork (Contreras et al. 2020). After the observation period, a discussion round was organized and all the students took participation in that discussion round and gave their opinions on what they learned from the observation.

Stage 2: Thoughts / Feelings

In the art gallery chose the picture among all the pictures because it gave me some positive vibes. In this colour, we can see that the dark blue colour on the right bottom of the canvas is reflecting a depressed feeling and anxiety (Hariyati et al. 2018). On the other hand, at the top corner of the canvas, the white and yellow colour is representing a ray of hope. Here the light colour is overlapping the dark colour.

Stage 3: Evaluation

The other students could not find the inner meaning of this picture. I found some interesting facts in this picture, which is why I chose this picture for my discussion project. As I mentioned before the dark colour is representing the dark period of our life and on the other hand, the light colour is showing hope (He, 2018). This picture is a mirror of a human's life. In our life we face a period when we get too tired of li8fe, depression and anxiety become our friends but with running time hope and success help us to overcome the situation. According to my study in nursing, I am seeing that the dark side is the reflection of the pain of the patient and in the operation and the proper treatment is the hope for that patient which can give him/her a good result.

Stage 4: Analysis

“Gibbs’ reflective cycle”, which was developed by Graham Gibbs is based on learning from the experiences that are a part of our nursing studies. This model is based on different parts like the description of the incident, the Feelings we gathered from that incident, the Evaluation And the critical analysis of the incident, and finally the conclusion and action plan help to deal with the incident in practical life and train us to defend the situation in real life also (Ingham-Broomfield, 2021). In my nursing career, I faced different kinds of patients, some patient was in huge pain, and some were out of control due to their physical pain. I helped them with my treatment, which made them feel good, and when we went to the art gallery, I felt a connection with this picture. As medical professionals, we are helping people to overcome pain, which can be mental pain or physical pain through our health care treatment. In this picture, the light colour is also overtaking the dark colour, which is somehow reflecting my profession (Laranjeira et al. 2021). After watching different kinds of pictures in the art gallery different students chose different pictures but I selected this. After the close encounter with this picture, I gave my speech in front of my other students who were also a part of this study program. For the first few minutes, it was not so clear to me but after our professors gave us the instruction to observe the pictures with more concentration, I found the deep meaning of the picture. After a detailed analysis of the picture, I found similarities with my career in this picture and all the credit goes to “Visual thinking Strategies” which helped me a lot to critically analysed the picture and find its inner meaning of it.

Stage 5: Conclusion

The strategies and the critical analysis of the art in that art gallery made me a focused person in real life also. The practical application of these strategies is very helpful for me in my career because it taught me how I can deal with my patient. The visual strategies are nothing just a procedure through which one student of the medical profession can give more focus to their patient, which will help them to understand the pain of the patient and give proper treatment. The study program which is completely based on the visual art presentation and learning from that art is critically made for those who need more focus in their career. The discussion round was also beneficial for me because not only did, I give a speech in front of other students, but they also gave lectures on other topics and art forms which I gathered some precious knowledge that will help me also in my career.

Stage 6: Action Plan

The last part of “Gibbs’ reflective cycle” is completely based on the plans made for the actions, which will be taken me in near future (Pagulayan et al.2018). After a detailed analysis of the p[picture and comparison of it with my profession, I get a clear concept that my profession will face different patients with different kinds of pain or problems (Relji? et al. 2019). I will provide them, with a quality treatment that will help them to overcome the pain and it will be beneficial for me because from different patients I will get different kinds of experiences, which will build a b professional mentality, and I will be able to face a more difficult situation. From this VTS lesson now I am completely prepared to make my future action plans to deal with difficult situations.
