Leadership and management refers to the skills and processes that are essential for guiding the team towards the direction of the common goal (Labrague, 2021). The report will cover the critical evaluation of the leadership and management in decision-making in care delivery and its impact on risk management, human factors etc. Many students use assignment writing service to structure their reports and clearly present critical evaluations in academic submissions. The reflective model used in this report will be Gibbs's reflective model. Academic and critiquing skills such as researching, gathering the required data, examination, etc are also used.
Leadership and management are crucial in the care delivery practice for better team management and efficient working (Melievich and Sarviniso, 2022). This analysis, part of HNU300 Management and Leadership in Care Delivery, critically evaluates leadership and management in care delivery. Gibbs's reflective analysis is a model that reflects on one's experience in a given situation. This helps assess and analyse one's experience and decide what and how it has to be done in the future to make it better. SNOB analysis is a technique which is used to analyse one's strong and weak areas. It gives an overview of the abilities that are present and needed by the person for the completion of the task.
Through the SNOB (Strengths, Needs, Opportunities, Barriers) analysis, conducted for HNU300 Management and Leadership in Care Delivery, I learned that I possess communication, teamwork, empathy, multitasking and critical thinking skills. Benmira and Agboola, (2021) stated that communication is necessary for any care delivery leader for better control of the team and transferring the information required for the patient treatment. Teamwork principles such as clear goals, mutual trust and effective communication help the leader in clinical practice to work well. Communication helped me to deliver the goals, expectations, and information for the work to my team as a team member that avoid the risk of wrong misinformation and manage resources.
Teamwork helped me to understand my colleagues in a better manner guide them in their work and establish relationships that support the care delivery services. López-Cabarcos et al, (2022) stated that leadership and decision making is beneficial to take the lead of the group and take decisions on the day-to-day operations in healthcare. Leadership and decision are helpful in role assignment, patient treatment, and avoiding any delays in the activities (Singh et al, 2023). For example, once my team was assigned to a critical patient the treatment needed to be decided and provide a diagnosis that was suitable for him. In that situation, I could make a quick judgement and based on that could suggest to my team the type of diagnosis to be given to that person.
Critical thinking is another capability that needs to be developed by me to become a good clinical leader and team member. This is required for better patient care and solving the team's problems as a leader. Multitasking is helpful for the timely completion of tasks managing busy schedules in care delivery and becoming a good clinical leader. Through the SNOB analysis, it can be said that I lack collaboration, negotiation and confidence. Collaboration is crucial for organising the tasks of the members and managing the difficult job through team support (Rachmad, 2022). I have always struggled with negotiation and confidence which has been noted as one of my weaknesses throughout my professional journey. It is required for effectively handling the patients and providing them with treatment. This experience has made me understand the importance these abilities can hold for me for better leadership and management of my team.
This experience was a mix of feelings, where at the start I was so determined to apply my knowledge in the real world. As it proceeded, I found many areas that I need to pay attention to for better career growth in the future. I was committed to working on the skills and it made me satisfy my curiosity to learn and gain more knowledge. Once it happened, I was struggling with the negotiation where my team had multiple patients to treat and I faced difficulty in understanding what needed to be done by me. Alan et al, (2022) argued that mismanagement of the task caused by an inefficient leader can be a threat to the team. It made me realise that it is essential to have developed in the area of work through continuous learning. Learning the right technique to manage time can be beneficial for control and risk management (Ali and Anwar, 2021). Risk is inevitable in care delivery and as a leader, I needed to be more active in assessing them in advance and provide the right solution for the same.
Risk can be related to unintentionally providing the wrong treatment to the patient (Hakim et al, 2022). For example, once it happened a new practitioner nurse had wrongly given the dose to the patient and that created the situation of alarm in our team. It showed me the absence of confidence in me though I could have suggested the solution and been better able to tackle the situation. Thankfully, it was not a big incident and the patient was safe as the dose was not much given by the nurse.
The overall experience was good as it led me to the identification of the abilities that were already in me as well as those that needed to be developed. Learning comes from experiences and these experiences can lead to growth as a professional (Alan et al, 2022). This can help develop me as a clinical leader as well as a better team member. I realised that through group efforts the issues at work can be tackled more easily. It has overall impacted me in a positive way that can benefit me in my future career. My teammates have always supported me at work and their contribution has been a major part of my being a clinical leader.
The experience has made sense in gaining knowledge about what can be done to further improve and develop a better team and myself as a more responsible team member. Labrague, (2021) mentioned that emotional motivation is the key to that can create a sense of emotional intelligence and resilience in care delivery. Once the incident took place where the team like other care delivery had been facing a shortage in the supply at the time of covid-19. It was more of a situation of alarm where my teammates needed to have emotional motivation. Emotional motivation, better team relations and strategic thinking can make the employee more determined and confident in the tough and conflicting periods faced at the workplace (Melievich and Sarviniso, 2022). This made me realise the necessity of having emotional intelligence and resilience. This situation has made complete sense and has proven very essential for me to be able to become a good clinical leader who can support the team.
It was also analysed that there was difficulty in developing the lacked abilities due to the lack of time available for learning about the working trends and technology. Due to this, I was unavailability to the performance assessment as it was hard to measure the outcomes based on what I have learned and match them with the recent trends. It can be concluded that if I had known the collaboration and confidence, I would have better handled the conflicting schedules and tasks assigned to me in the group. It would have benefitted me and my team to be more productive and efficient at the tasks. Benmira and Agboola, (2021) mentioned that critical thinking is beneficial for a leader to achieve goals and competing tasks on time. As a clinical leader, I would be more profound in choosing the right method or way of doing the work more productively for higher results. Productivity can be achieved by adapting to the right abilities of the worker that contribute to the whole organisation (Labrague, 2021). Being a team member it would have made me support the superiors as well as the other members at work.
If I had been aware of the negotiation, I would have managed the tasks more efficiently and it would have been better for my career as well as the team. Confidence also would have helped me in motivating my team and building emotional resilience in me and becoming a good clinical leader. It would have led me to achieve the goals within the given timeframe. Clinical professionalism reflects in a way the individual can deal with stress and stay motivated (López-Cabarcos et al, 2022). Through time management I would also have handled the stress in the difficult circumstances.

Conclusion
It can be concluded from the above, developed for HNU300 Management and Leadership in Care Delivery, that reflection is essential for an individual to develop into a better leader and improve management at work. As a leader, the skills already present in me are communication and critical thinking. It was also found that there was a lack of confidence and negotiation. These skills are essential for me as a clinical leader as well as a team member. Through systematic planning, I can further develop these necessary capabilities and grow my professional career.
