Overview of business idea

Entrepreneurship may be defined as procedure of finding out the opportunities, managing resources, taking financial risks to develop and manage new business project, usually leading to innovation as well as economic development. Entrepreneurs refer to an individual who makes money through opening or operating new business and fulfil the needs of society. The food and beverage (F&B) industry has achieved rapid growth from the past years. The food and beverage industry is projected to grow yearly by 5.42% (CAGR 2025-2030) (Food - United Kingdom, 2025). It has been evaluated that the F&B sector is constantly developing which will be profitable for the entrepreneurs who want to setup food business. Referring the food market trends and own interest, the small business of Food Truck will be introduced named as ‘Culinary Cart ’.

The food business will give priority to the organic natural and fresh ingredients to prepare food items and contribute towards the preservation of environment. It will be a uniqueness of the business that helps in attracting both the investors and customers. It will be a food truck that offer tasty, delicious and range of food and drinks to the customers. Culinary Cart will mainly offer the products to the kids, young people and working people. The food truck will offer variety of coffee beverages as well as different types of sandwiches made from organic ingredients. Culinary Cart will also offer plant-based and vegan food products to meet the ever-changing demand of the customers.

Marketing Manager 1 Marketing expert will be hired to carry out the promotional activities. The roles and responsibilities of marketing manager involves performing market research, making and applying marketing strategies, creating advertising campaigns and supervising overall marketing activities. Marketing manager will also work together with the owner to increase sales.
Chefs 2 Chefs are important for any food & beverage business. The major responsibility of the chefs will prepare food and drink according to the recipes (Bucak and Yiğit, 2021). They will be liable for maintaining quality of food as well as safety standards to offer great experiences to the customers. 
Support Staff 2 The duties of supporting staff will include taking orders, packing food, taking payments and offer excellent customers service. The support staff will also clean the kitchen area and overall truck. They will maintain the hygiene and cleanliness so that more customers will be attracted by the new business.

PESTEL analysis

It is the most essential to identify and analyse the external factors while opening new business to reduce issues and operating business efficiently. PESTEL analysis which is explained below will help to know external environment.

Political: It involves factors like government policies, trade agreements, political stability, food safety regulations and taxation policies. All these policies can impact the business highly.

Economic: Inflation rates are increasing regularly in the United Kingdom. Current inflation rate in UK is 3.00% which can impact consumer spending power (UK Inflation Rate, 2025).

Social: Over time people have changed their food preferences and are choosing healthy options. It can highly affect the food business and forced them to sell healthy products.

Technological: There are many advanced technologies like food manufacturing technologies, data analytics, mobile and e-commerce platforms and supply chain innovation that can be leveraged by the businesses.

Environmental: It involves various factors such as; climate change, scarcity of natural resources, pollution, waste production etc. Businesses are responsible for increasing all these issues (Makos, 2024).

Legal: It involves factors like food safety rules, labelling requirements, health & safety requirements and advertising standards.

Impact of PESTEL factors on new food business

Political Due to Brexit, UK government has changed rules for the business which can negatively impact business. However, political stability in UK can benefit the new business.
Economic Regularly increasing inflation rate can prevent the customers to spend their money in buying food from Culinary Cart which results into reduction in the sales.
Social Growing interest in healthy food products can positively impact the business because the new business will sell organic and plant-based food products (Bhutani et al, 2023).
Technological Data analytics, food production and e-commerce technology will be helpful to operate business efficiently in the contemporary business environment.
Environmental Food businesses are heavily dependent on natural resources. In this case, due to the shortage of natural resource, the business cannot efficiently carry out their food manufacturing process.
Legal If the Culinary Cart will avoid any legal acts and laws then they may face legal charges and reputational damage. Therefore, it crucial for the business to comply with the rules to become ethical business.

Segmentation, targeting and positioning (STP) analysis

Segmentation Culinary Cart will highly segment their target market according to demographic, geographic, psychographic and behavioural. Demographic: Kids, students, working people and families. Geographic: The business will target people who live in Bristol, South West (Luthfiandana et al, 2024). Psychographic: The new business will also target the customers according to lifestyle and values. Behavioural: Culinary Cart will target people who want healthy food and drink products.
Target market Culinary Cart will basically target the men and women of age group 16-50. The new business will focus on price-conscious by offering food at reasonable prices. Health-conscious people will be targeted by business through offering healthy food options.
Positioning Culinary cart will offer authentic and delicious food with the modern twist, utilising natural, fresh and local ingredients.

4P’s of marketing strategies

Marketing mix refers to the strategic framework that companies utilise to promote their products/services successfully by concentrating on four elements such as; product, price, place and promotion.

Product: Culinary Cart will offer variety of coffees and sandwiches in their food truck. It involves different types of coffee such as; latte, mocha, espresso and cappuccino. The food truck will also sell black coffee and iced coffee to the customers (Hanifah, Nuringwahyu and Krisdianto, 2022). Different kinds of sandwiches like vegetable sandwich, cheese sandwich, ham sandwich along with eggless mayo sandwich. Fresh, plant-based and organic ingredients will be used to prepare food. The business will use multigrain breads for sandwiches to make the food more organic.

Price: The new business will charge reasonable price for the coffee and sandwiches. The company will also provide discounts and seasonal offers so that more customers will choose Culinary Cart for fulfilling the hunger needs. For example, Culinary Cart will charge around £1.50 for basic coffee and prices will be different for different coffee beverages. Basically, the business will charge £2 to £4 for coffee. For sandwiches, the business will charge between £4 and £6.

Place: Culinary Cart will initiate their food truck in Bristol which is a popular in the South West. Target customers who live in this area can buy coffee and sandwiches. There will be also packing option available so that customers can take food with them (Idris, 2021). The business will collaborate with online food ordering and delivery companies for the customers who want to order food online.

Promotion: Digital marketing will be used by the Culinary Cart to promote business and its products and services. The firm will use social media platforms such as; Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and post images, videos as well as campaigns. It will help the firm to grab the attention of large customers and increase awareness regarding new business.

Funding requirements and allocation

For new business, appropriate management of financial resources is necessary to get success. Culinary Cart will consider both external financial sources to meet financial needs. The business want approximately £50,000 investment amount from investors to set up food truck. The business will also take loan from bank around £10000.
