The present assignment will involve reflection on three areas: professional, personal, and academic development skills gained during the module, with a PDP subsequently prepared. I will use Gibb’s reflective model for writing the reflection, which consists of six stages: description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion, and action plan (Gibb’s Reflective Model, 2023). Professional Development

There is no doubt in stating that this module provided me varied opportunities through which I have gained development. For reflecting on professional development, I will be using Emotional Intelligence [EI] skill from week 4. Based on the theoretical perspective of EI, it can be said that it refers to the potential to handle own emotions along with understanding the emotions of other people (Papoutsi, Drigas and Skianis, 2021). During this week, I got to know that it is important to understand own emotions as this is linked with behavioural patterns. Five important components align with EI; self-awareness, positive outlook, self-control, adaptability and empathy. I have effectively focused on my self-awareness abilities. However, I was struggling with empathy. I was not able to show empathy towards other people and I started to become rude to them which shows lack of EI in me. Communication and problem-solving skills supported me in terms of developing EI ability. I started to focus on communicating with the people instead of misunderstanding them. When I started to interact with people then, I came to know that everyone is suffering from certain kinds of problems in their life and by showing empathy towards them I can make them happy for a while. Emotional intelligence is just not limited to understanding own emotions. However, it is a wider concept that involves focusing on the emotional fluctuation of other people as well (Christianson, 2020). I can say that communication skill enabled me to focus on my weaknesses and further I have communicated with people and I was able to assure empathy towards them. At the initial level, I thought that I could not reflect on my EI abilities as I was unaware of the facts however, I used problem problem-solving approach and I started to reflect upon each component of EI and reflection became easy for me. When I focused on the cause factor that is leading to problem the I became able to witness the solution as well. Due to lack of awareness, I was not able to reflect upon EI abilities. Afterwards, I started practicing self-reflection which enabled me to look upon my strengths and weaknesses. Thus, I will use this ability in future as well so that I can become able to reflect upon my own emotions and this will support me in understanding the emotions of other people as well.

Personal Development

 Personal development entails developing my own capabilities and potential, during this module, I have had the opportunity to undertake personal development (Guzmán et al, 2020). In week 10- I completed a self-leadership questionnaire for assessing my self-development and leadership skill. I realised that leadership skill proves to be highly essential in personal development as it contributes to enhancing an individual’s potential to the greater utmost. Leadership skill is further linked with different aspects such as decision-making, communication and motivation abilities (Megheirkouni and Mejheirkouni, 2020). During this module. I was given a team work and I was leading the team, at the initial stage, I was not able to maintain coordination with team members as I had not analysed their requirements and allocated tasks according to my own preference. This led to create major conflicts as the team members were demotivated to greater extent. This further led to the development of an ineffective relationship between us. However, afterwards, I focused on communicating with team members so I could analyse their issues and I got to know that each of them wanted to do a different task. I have conducted the meeting and accordingly, I decided to allocate tasks as per the preference of team members. This resulted in creating effective coordination among all of us. Also, team members were able to share their doubts in a significant manner that contributed to developing a significant understanding with them. Thus, I can say that I have learned about the importance of leadership and I got to know that leadership comes up with responsibility. During this module, I have identified my weakness as well and that was a lack of critical analysis skills. This skill proves to be highly essential for undertaking the practical implication of decision and I was lacking in this area due to which I was not able to understand the issues of team members. I have effective competency in decision making but when it comes to implementing the decision then I am not able to do this. I want to become a transformational leader in future so I can promote the employee’s contribution at the workplace and further, open communication can be undertaken. This results in creating significant support for team members and motivates them to perform in an effective manner. Henceforth, I will imply a significant focus on this area so that I can become able to evaluate the needs of team members and accordingly specific decision will be taken that contributes to enhancing the motivation level of team members.

Academic Development

During week 3 I have focused on enhancing my academic writing practices. It plays an important role in enhancing academic skill development. In this module, I have got different types of assignments and I got to know varied elements related to academic writing. My tutor told me that academic writing needs to be in a structured manner and this should be concerned with formal language and referencing. There should be no plagiarism in the writing as this can lead to academic misconduct (Peng and Kievit, 2020). In this context, my strengths were aligned with writing assignments with clarity and discussing everything in a detailed manner. Moreover, I have focused on maintaining integrity throughout the writing. These were the areas that supported me in terms of enhancing my writing skill and this further supported me in maintaining academic integrity. On the other hand, there were certain weaknesses that were composed of not being able to approach authentic articles for writing information. This was mainly due to a lack of critical analysis and research skills. In order to research appropriate articles, a critical evaluation of the sources needed to be done so that authentic articles can be selected (Rasheed et al, 2020). Henceforth, I needed to focus on this area so that I could effectively approach appropriate articles and this further led to enhancing my research and critical analysis skills. While completing the assignment I have enhanced my writing skill and this will further support me in future as well so that I can complete my assignment while maintaining academic integrity. Thus, I will ensure significant focus on this area so that I can effectively become able to search appropriate articles and this can be further used in research.

Henceforth, I will make an action plan regarding the skills which need to be developed in me. My core motive is to enhance my academic writing practices so that I can good marks and this contributes to enhancing my overall development as well. I will perform a critical evaluation of the articles by looking at their creditability, information and references. This enables me to know whether the article is authentic or not and further appropriate information can be involved in the assignment. Further, I will never copy-paste anything from Google I will always paraphrase the content and I will provide credit to those authors whose content I will be using in my assignment.

Conclusion

This MN4W50QA module has provided me with varied opportunities in terms of gaining personal, professional and academic development. I have used Gibb’s reflective cycle for writing the reflection and accordingly, I have reflected upon the mandatory skills such as emotional intelligence, leadership and academic writing. This reflection supported me in terms of analysing my strengths and weaknesses and accordingly, I will be focusing on the areas of development. My weaknesses are comprised with lack of critical analysis, research and team management skills. Further, I need to focus on enhancing my EI capabilities so that I can effectively understand the emotions of other people. Therefore, I will be focusing on all of these areas and personal development plan will be made so that I can undertake improvement. Also, I am going to use this learning in future as it supports in enhancing my personal and professional development.
