Introduction to Personal and Career Development Assignment

Personal development refers to the activities formulated to enhance skills, potential, talent, and employability, a concept often explored in academic resources such as Online Assignment Help in UK. In contrast, career development is a process of learning and applying short-term capabilities to achieve long-term career goals (Hallpike, Vallée-Tourangeau and Van der Heijden, 2022). In today’s competitive world, individuals place strong emphasis on both personal and career development so they can achieve success in life. The main aim of this report is to identify and explain personal strengths and weaknesses by utilising the DIEP reflective model. The report will also present a personal development plan to enhance skills and accomplish career-related goals.

Identification of strengths and weaknesses

Self-reflection is explained as the procedure of thinking about own strong points, behaviours and weaknesses (Aprilia et al, 2024). By reflecting on own experiences, a person tries to improve the weak areas. I also conducted my SWOT analysis which is explained by using DIEP (describe, interpret, evaluate and plan) given below:

Describe: I am a potential candidate who is looking for job. Therefore, I always focus on my skills, knowledge and competencies so that I can make improvement if I find any weaknesses and get job in a good company. I want to know my strengths as well as weaknesses as it would help me to become capable enough to apply for job. For this reason, recently, I performed my personal SWOT analysis so that I can become aware of my strengths and other areas where I am lacking. I have identified that SWOT analysis is useful tool that helped me to know my strength and weakness along with the opportunity and threat.

When I started this analysis, I make a proper plan so that I can effectively perform this analysis and it increases my learning instead of providing the negative outcomes (Keawtavon, Suamuang and Chomsuwan, 2023). In starting of this analysis, I divided the task into different sections so that I can pay attention on one task at one time. I started this project from analysing my strengths from my past personal life experiences and academic experiences. After that, I moved on to weaknesses because it is crucial of the person to equally focus on the weak areas rather than concentrating only on strengths. I honestly say that SWOT analysis was good experience as it provided me a chance to know the opportunities and weaknesses.

Interpret: From this analysis, I identified that I possess several strong skills such as; time management, creativity and critical-thinking skills.

Time management: Whenever, I had to work on any project in school I easily complete tasks within time limit. I made time table before starting any project and divided tasks into smaller parts. This approach facilitated me to focus on one task at one time. This is the reason; I am good in time management.

Creativity: I identified from evaluation that I have excellent creativity skills which helped me to do things in a different way. In my academic, when tutor gave any tasks, I searched on the Google and read books to find the alternative solutions and creative ideas (Malone and MacMahon, 2023). I always think out of the box instead of using same way to solve the problem.

Critical-thinking: It is another strength of mine that really facilitated me in my daily life as well as academic life. As a critical thinker, I find the different solutions to the problem and critically analysed each solution. After that, I selected best solution to the problem. After putting solution, I also evaluated the situation and if it does not work then used alternative solution.

Furthermore, this activity facilitated me to know weaknesses so that I can make efforts to improve them. I found out that I am weak in communication skills, emotional intelligence and technical ability.

Communication skills: Whenever I had to interact with others in my daily or academic I felt little nervous. I am not able to confidently interact with other people which negatively impact my work.

Emotional intelligence: I could not control my feelings and emotions when I had to work on complex task. I also experienced difficulties to understand others emotions.

Technical skills: As I want to apply for the job, I will need to have technical ability because most of employers want this skill into their employment. I don’t have more knowledge about the different technical tools so focus needs to be placed on achieving proficiency in it.

Evaluate: The experience of conducting SWOT analysis was great for me as I become able to know which strengths would be helpful me to get desire job. This activity also provides me with a chance to work on my weaknesses so that it cannot prevent me to achieve my career goals.

The activity was highly helpful for me as I realised that I am good in managing my time and always complete work timely because I scheduled activities according to the priorities whether it’s related to the personal work. It helped me to save my time and energy. Having experienced this activity, I learned to analyse the past situation and learned lessons from them (Diep et al, 2022). I analysed that the critical thinking and creativity skill are extremely valuable in career. Both skills will encourage me to find the creative and different ways or solutions to resolve the problems. It will allow me to perform my work related tasks and activities in an effective way and increase chances of my success at the workplace.

This activity also developed my thinking procedure and improved my ability to evaluate situation in-depth manner. Lastly, apart from the strengths and weaknesses, I have identified opportunities and threats regarding my career. Increase demand for sales manager will be opportunity for me as I have completed my study in sales and marketing. Online training and workshop will help me to increase my knowledge. On the other hand, growing competition in the job marketplace is biggest threat for me.

Plan: After such priceless experience, it has changed my mind and motivates me to participate in activities. This learning will be applicable in m y future career as I am planning to apply for sales job in the company. My learning will be useful for me to be actively engaged in the procedure of analysing, assessing and synthesising information (Lambert et al, 2024). I see this activity as a learning experience to enhance my interpersonal skills so that I can become more confident in my personal and professional life. As the next step, I will develop action plan in order to improve my weak skills so that when I will apply for job, employer will consider me as a good candidate for the job.

It will surely contribute in improving my communication skills. Books will also develop my social skills which allow me to understand emotions of others and response appropriately. I will perform emotional intelligent test and give answers to different questions. It will measure my capability and help me to know my behaviour and attitudes. Books and article and emotional intelligence tests 2 months I will evaluate emotional intelligence capability through managing thoughts and emotions in tough circumstances.
Technical skills I will learn about MS Office and email writing as well as get basic knowledge about computer security. I will complete online courses like data analysis, cyber security and artificial intelligence. It will benefit me in my future workplace to carry out tasks effectively. I will also join workshops which will give practical experience. I will also learn about useful software related to sales job. Furthermore, I will also do group study as it will provide me chance to learn from others. Attend online tutorials, workshops and group study (Rusilowati and Wahyudi, 2020) 6 months For evaluation of technical skills, I will use different apps and software to perform my work.

As per above report, it is concluded that self-reflection is useful technique as it allows an individual to identify their strengths as well as weaknesses from past experiences. DIEP is one of the best reflective tool that help an individual to reflect on any situation. With the help of this, I identified that I have several strengths such as; time management, creativity and critical-thinking skills. I also found out from this module that I have few weak areas that need improvement such as; communication ability, emotional intelligence and technical skills. Personal development plan is helpful to enhance the skills within fixed time limit.
