Reflective Essay: SH4008 Assignment 2

Inclusion is considered as a fair treatment, opportunities, access and advancement of all people (De Bruin, 2020). Inclusion strives to identify and eliminate all the challenges to prevent the full participation of the people in the society. Inclusion creates the environment where contributions of all people are respected and valued (Kart and Kart, 2021). This fosters the sense of belonging where the people feel appreciated in the community or organization. Further, this encourages cooperation, collaboration as well as teamwork among diverse scenarios. Inclusion considers the diverse mix feels valued, involved, treated fairly, respected and embedded in the culture. This essay will explore my learning and understanding on inclusion using Gibbs reflective cycle (Adeani et al, 2020).

Using Gibbs reflective model, during description stage I have encountered the topic inclusion which helped me to analyse that people with disabilities should not be discriminated and accommodated to take part in every field such as education or workplace on the same basis as their peers (Adeani et al, 2020). This responds to the diverse identities, needs and strengths of all people. This occurs when people with additional needs and disabilities are treated with respect as well as included in the decision making (De Bruin, 2020). This fosters the positive culture of change in the beliefs and attitudes about disability. In my opinion, inclusion contributes in the positive learning, wellbeing and engagement outcomes for people.

Throughout the module in feeling stage, I have analysed that inclusive environment fosters the culture which promotes the collective ingenuity in the diverse market. Embracing and accepting the differences created the sense of belongingness. Social inclusion is significant for people security, dignity and opportunity to lead better life. I have studied that it is significant to support the people to feel connected as well as valued within the society. Participating in the society rely on the determinants of the health and wellbeing which have the positive results following exposure to trauma (Navarro-Mateu et al, 2021). Inclusion is also inextricably connected with the economic participation. With the opportunities to study, work and access training leaves people facing the entrenched poverty. For students attempting reflective essays, help with writing assignments offers critical guidance in structuring thoughts and meeting academic criteria.

Throughout the evaluation stage, the course has helped me with knowledge of inclusion when people from diverse backgrounds as well as perspective come together are more probable to come with the innovative ideas (Adeani et al, 2020). This is because they can see issue from the range of angles with solutions (Saloviita, 2020). People who included are more probable to be engaged as well as productive in their work. This is because they feel respected and valued. By allowing people from diverse backgrounds and abilities to participate equally foster diversity. An inclusion environment provides people the chance to communicate with the peers from various backgrounds and abilities.

In analysis, this module has also enhanced my knowledge about the significance of inclusion at workplace. Hiring people with disabilities expand the talent pool which brings people with the range of experience, skills and perspectives. This diversity can lead to bring creative problem solving, innovative solutions as well as more dynamic work environment (Zabeli et al, 2021). People with disabilities tend to have high level of engagement as well as productivity. When people feel included and valued are motivated to contribute in the tasks.

Relating the topic to my learning I have identified inclusivity being implemented. Inclusive practice aims to reduce the barriers in learning and support to sustain the success for all learners. The inclusive ethos includes all leaners with the particular environment to reach their full potential through participation in the curriculum (Gaintza and Castro, 2020). For instance, during the group project I have analysed, when forming the team, inclusivity in terms of backgrounds, skills and experience. This ensures the wide range of ideas and perspectives. We have created the environment where each member feel contributed and valued. Active participation ensures that every team member has an equal opportunity to be heard. I have evaluated that by fostering an environment where each group member can openly share their opinions, thoughts and recommendations. This encourages the constructive criticism which led generation of the better thoughts. This also helps in embracing the culture differences which bring unique ideas and insights that links with the larger audience.

Cultural diversity encompasses the variations in language, ethnicity, worldviews and traditions. Team comprises for people from diverse cultural background who bring unique ideas and techniques to problem solving (Ní Bhroin and King, 2020). By embracing the different way of thinking, group can feel free from the patterns and explore new possibilities. By considering the range of scenarios, team can recognize the challenge assumptions and arrive at conclusion that considers the range of factors. Inclusivity foster empathy and understanding among group members. By engaging with various viewpoints, people can gain better appreciation for the challenges and experience faced by others. This encourages the culture of collaboration and respect within the group work.

I have also evaluated that the major issue with the lack of inclusion is when discrimination occurs which make the group member feel isolated. Another major issue is underrepresented people may find it challenging to link with the peers for guidance. However, in my opinion, each team member brings the unique knowledge, experience and expertise which led more comprehensive understanding of the issues. By considering the range of viewpoints, team can recognize the innovative solutions as well as overcome challenges more efficiently. Inclusive perspectives can help challenge existing predication as well as biases with the team (Finkel and Dashper, 2020). By promoting individuals to question their own beliefs and considering the alternative viewpoints group members can avoid groupthink as well as promote the culture of critical thinking. This can lead to more robust decision making procedure as well as mitigate overlooking potential blind spot. When the diverse perspective is embraced, group members are more likely to provide innovative ideas. Various experiences and backgrounds bring new insights and alternative strategies to problem solving. By encouraging brainstorming sessions and collaboration group can tap in the collective innovation of the members and unlock new opportunities. Leveraging diverse viewpoint can promote empathy as well as understanding among the team (Bardhan and Gower, 2020). By actively connecting with the various scenarios, people can develop deep appreciation for the unique contribution which each individual bring to the table. This promotes strong relationships, collaboration and trust among the team.

Collaborative problem solving can assist in building sense of investment in the solution among group which enhance the probability of the efficient implementation.

I have also recalled the workshop on cultural competence which have enhanced my sensitivity and understanding towards the diverse cultures. The major goal is to provide learners with the knowledge to interact with individual from diverse cultural backgrounds. Cultural competency workshops closely link with people from diverse religious, cultures and social backgrounds. This aims to handle discrimination, unconscious biases, misunderstanding and stereotypes which result in more inclusive environment. These workshops have helped me with understanding cultural beliefs, norms and practices. I have also learned how to communicate clearly by understanding various communication style and handle language barriers in cross cultural communication (Stanford, 2020). This kind of training highlights the significance of being sensitive to cultural variations. This helped me to reflect on my own personal assumption, bias, actions and attitudes which impact the behaviour.

I have also encountered unconscious bias which is an attitude often stemming from societal expectations (Bernstein et al, 2020). These biases can majorly impact the decision and interactions, which lead to create discrimination, unhealthy culture as well as exclusion. This lead to preferential treatment as well as less diverse team might gravitate to remind them. Promoting an inclusive curriculum is significant in promoting the learning environment which embrace and respect diversity for the students experience, backgrounds and identities. An inclusive curriculum identify that people come from the range of ethnic, culture, linguistic as well as social cultural backgrounds. This acknowledges the significance of offering learning resources materials which reflect the contribution and experience of the diverse people. By implementing the diverse perspectives, cultures as well as histories in the education, professionals can offer students with the better knowledge which encourage critical thinking and empathy.

In the classroom, I have also encountered that supporting language learned is significant in encouraging the inclusion in education. This face unique issues as they navigate the educational system in the language which is significant in offering valuable support as well as resources to assist students to get academic success. Educators also employ instructional approaches which promote language acquisition like using gestures, offering visuals and encourage peer collaboration. Creating an inclusive environment involve valuing the culture and linguistic diversity (Wolbring and Lillywhite, 2021). In the pursuit of equitable education, it is significant to handle the opportunity that exists with the educational systems. The opportunity gap is an unequal distribution of opportunities, resources as well as result among various student groups driven by geographic locations, race and socioeconomic status. The key aspect of handling the opportunity gap understands as well as acknowledging is the fundamental causes. Systematic inequalities, socioeconomic disparities as well as institutional biases contribute in the perpetuation of the opportunity gap.

The major factors in my learning experience include understanding inclusive education on fundamental human right. Inclusive classroom identify the differences among people which ensure that every child must be offered with the equitable opportunity to grow, learn and thrive. This designed lessons caters to broad spectrum of learning styles, employ flexible learning methods, offering accommodations as well as support that each student can access the curriculum which reflect their individual strength. Inclusion is the basic human right that is significant in building the progressive community. This is about creating the diversity and respects the unique differences of each individual (Mapes et al, 2020). Inclusion is vital for achieving the collective objectives as well as promotes positive social outcomes. This promotes the sense of acceptance and belongings for all people, regardless of their cultures and backgrounds. This can create more connected and cohesive society, where people are more probable to work jointly for collective objectives. Feeling include the sense of belonging significant for positive mental health. Inclusive atmosphere encourage the sense of acceptance and safety which led to reduce the depression.

During the module, I have studied that inclusive environment promote equal opportunities for all the people in spite of their backgrounds. Employee engagement is the amount to which the workers are motivated and invested which contribute in the company’s success. This is emotional as well as intellectual commitment for work, organization and colleagues as a whole. Developing an inclusive work culture has enormous advantages for the people and company (Rohden, 2023). An inclusive work culture appreciates the success of the company.
