Introduction
Research background
Within nursing, there are many different types of issues and errors faced by nurses which can affect the working of the healthcare sector. While working, many different types of issues and errors might be faced by adult nurses. It can result in creating issues for the successful working of the nurse and providing services to the patient. The medication error is defined as the failure which occurs made due to the process of treatment process, and this can lead to harming the patient (Alrabadi et al., 2021, 78-86). These are generally the unintended failures which take place due to the wrong usage of drug treatment or any other issue with the medication. Thus, for this, it is the responsibility of the nurse they effectively implement better working so that the overall efficiency is improved. The current study will assess the factors that what factors lead to an increase in medication errors and what impact these factors have on the functioning of nurses in managing patients in the context of adult care.

Problem statement
In the current hectic working environment, medication error is a major issue which impacts the functioning of the healthcare institution. It is necessary for the reason that when the errors are less than automatic, it will improve the working capability of the nurses (Stolic et al., 2022, 105325). Thus, this is the major problem which is currently faced by the nurses, and this affects the work of the nurses greatly. So it is needed that the current problem is solved effectively so that the problem of medication error can be reduced, and as a result of this, the overall patient care can be improved.

LITERATURE REVIEW
Current understanding of the topic
According to the views of Schroers, Ross and Moriarty (2021), the medication error is the one which includes the errors or problems which are caused by issues in the different dosages of the medicines. These are the issues and problems which are faced with nurse’s face while handling patients within the healthcare organisations. So for the successful working of nurses in adult care, it is necessary that the effective type of services are provided without errors so that the overall working is improved and better patient care is provided. Against this, Lalujan and Musharyanti (2021) argued that the error can occur at any time, and it can create a huge negative impact, and it can affect the working capability of the nurses. Moreover, the most common type of error in medication is communication. When the communication is not clear, then it will create a major impact on the work, and as a result, the dosage of the medicine can be greatly affected. Hence, for managing the issue better, it is necessary that effective and clear communication is present. For example, the nurse has communicated that the medicine dosage includes 2.2 g a day. But the patient heard it was 3.2 gm, then this can create a lot many negative effects on the health of the patient. Thus, with this error, the major issue can be faced, and it can create an impact on the health of the person.
Published data
In the views of Gribben and Semple (2021) there are various medication issues which can be faced by the nurses while providing care to the adults. However, while working, there are many instances in which the issues can be identified for the nurses, and it can result in creating a negative impact on their working capability. According to the views of D'Errico et al., (2022) the most common aspect or the factor which creates issues or increases the medication error includes the oral transmission. This is a major factor which leads to an increase in error, as through oral transmission, there is a high chance of creating errors. The sound-alike names can cause a major medication error, and as a result of this, the overall efficiency is impacted. Further, when the drugs have similar-looking names, then it can create issues, and the medication error can increase. For example, the adult nurse asked the patient to take the dosage every hour, and the patient understood it as every half an hour then this can create issues for the nurses while taking care of the patient. Along with this Jaam et al., (2021) stated that the factors which can increase medication error can include the overburdened role and responsibilities of the nurses. Many times, the nurses are overburdened with responsibilities then which can result in creating issues for the working of nurses. In this case, the nurse might give the wrong prescription to the patient, and ultimately, the work is greatly affected. Thus, for this, it is the responsibility of the nurses they work calmly and in a planned manner. Additionally, Marufu et al., (2022) stated that another factor which can increase the medication error is that there are more prescribers for a single patient. This is a case in which a particular patient is having more of the prescriber give the medicines. In this case, there are high chances that the dosage of medicine may vary as the prescribers are more and ultimately it can create issues in managing the work.

Moreover, Uitvlugt et al., (2021) assessed that when the medication errors are more than, it will create a negative impact on the work of the nurses and the patient care as well. It is so because when errors are faced more than it creates a lot of issues for the successful working of a nurse. Thus, ultimately it results in creating a negative impact on the work of the nurses, and they will not be able to manage the situation, and the patient might suffer a lot.
Key stakeholders
With the working and management of medication errors, there are many different stakeholders as well who are interested in the management. These are the stakeholders who are responsible for improving the services and medication provided by the nurses. These stakeholders include the nurses working for adult care, the patients themselves, other healthcare assistants and professionals and many others.
Relevant policies and guidelines
Also, there are many different types of policies and guidelines as well which result in improving the situation of medication errors. Thus, there are different types of guidelines available that can be used for effective medication administration (Gribben and Semple, 2021, 101887). This is necessary for the reason that when the effective type of these guidelines is utilised, then the appropriate type of medication errors can be reduced. It includes ensuring the long-term safety of the patient and also supporting the staff who are performing the task of giving medication. Thus, with this, the safety can be ensured, and also the regulatory authorities must try to manage the factors which can lead to an increase in errors. When these errors are managed well, then it will create a better environment, and this will result in a reduction of the errors.
METHODS
The research approach is the one which needs to be implemented in the company so that better working is improved and the scholar is in a position to manage the work better. It is necessary for the reason that when the effective type of the methods is selected then it improves the working capability. Hence, for this, the researcher is planning to implement the use of qualitative research (Char, Abràmoff and Feudtner, 2020, 7-17). Here, the scholar will be implementing the use of the qualitative study because it will assist the scholar in analysing the different types of qualitative information in relation to the medication errors and factors increasing them. It will also include the usage of an inductive approach and the interpretivism philosophy for the completion of the study. It will be helpful to the research as they will be able to set the appropriate type of aim and objectives, and this will provide a clear base for the successful completion of the study.
Data collection
Within the current analysis of the factors contributing to the medication error, the compliance with the qualitative data will be undertaken. It is due to the reason that with the help of the qualitative data, better analysis is undertaken in relation to the research topic. Thus, it will assist the scholar in managing the study better and help accomplish the aim and objectives of the study. The qualitative data is focused more as it will help the researcher gain in-depth knowledge relating to factors promoting medication errors.
The 5 key studies are selected in the analysis of the study as they will be guiding the company in managing the work better and trying to improve the efficiency well (Tamminen and Poucher, 2020, 535-549). So, for the researcher, it is necessary that the effective type of database is selected so that the overall work can be improved and a better evaluation of the collected data can be done.
This is good data because here the researcher will be using reliable and accurate data about the research topic. So, for the completion of the study, this data will be a good option as all the data will provide better data and input for the successful completion of the research. Moreover, by undertaking the use of these key articles better understanding and base can be developed for the successful completion of the study, and ultimately, it will improve working efficiency.
The findings of these articles will assist in improving and addressing the research problem. With the evaluation of different types of articles, much wider knowledge is ascertained about the research topic, and ultimately, a better solution to the problem can be identified.
Data analysis
For the analysis of the data, the compliance with thematic analysis will be undertaken by the scholar. This will be implemented by the scholar because with the help of this, it will improve the work and the data will be increased better (Saliya, 2023, 35-51). Thus, for the successful working of the research, it is needed that the effective themes are developed and ultimately the objectives under study are accomplished well. Moreover, with the help of the thematic analysis, various different themes can be assessed and identified, and this will help the scholar in analysing in detail which type of factors are increasing the medication errors.
Further, for the effective evaluation of the different types of articles and the secondary sources, the use of the CASP tool will be implemented for the appraisal of the paper. This is needed for the reason that when the articles and other data are appraised through this tool then the accurate information will be assessed. This tool will assist in effectively analysing all the different types of articles, and the effectiveness and accuracy will be assessed. Moreover, with the examination of the CASP tool, all the irrelevant articles will not be considered in the study.
To limit the own bias in the study, the effective type of implementation of the randomisation at the time of selecting the article is undertaken. Moreover, during the selection of the articles, the keyword searching and the implementation of the Boolean operator are used. With the help of this the more precise and accurate data can be implemented, and ultimately, the efficiency of the research will be improved (Newman, Guta and Black, 2021). Also, for reducing the own bias at the time of conducting the present study is that the scholar must implement the use of peer-reviewed articles, as it provides a better type of information and is viewed by many of the different scholars as well.
While working on the secondary data, the most important ethical consideration that needs to be implemented into the current study is that the data sources which are selected will also be copyright protected. Thus, this protection will ensure that all the information included in the study is accurate, as it is taken from the copyrighted sources only (Mazhar et al., 2021, 6-10). Further, another ethical aspect is that all the proper credit is given to the scholars and authors whose study has been referred to in this study. It is done with the help of proper references and citations, which are provided through the study. It needs to be implemented for the reason that when the appropriate credit is given to the author, then this makes the study more effective, and ultimately, the research outcomes are improved.
CONCLUSION
The above proposal concludes that certain types of medication errors are faced by nurses while providing adult care. This needs to be implemented in case these errors are not identified well, then the health and safety of the patient will not be assessed well, and it will affect the work of the healthcare companies. Also, the study concluded that the effective type of qualitative study is beneficial to use. In case the effective data is not collected, then it will hamper the working capability, and the overall objectives will be affected.
The limitation of the current research is that there were many different types of data available, and correctly selecting the authentic data was very difficult. Hence, for mitigating this limitation, the researcher undertook the use of criteria for taking only copyright sources under the study. This assisted in improving the work, and ultimately, the efficiency is improved, and accurate data is selected.
The current research is important for the reason that it will assist in developing knowledge in the context of reducing the errors taking place within the work of nurses and medical practitioners. This is necessary for the reason that while working, there are many different types of impacts and negative issues created on the work of a nurse, and there are many errors which can occur, and this needs to be solved as when the possible errors will be reduced then automatically the working of the nurse will increase. Hence, for this, the research is of significance to the nurses in the healthcare sector so that they have in-depth knowledge relating to the factors which may increase the medication error. Also, this study is of significance to other scholars who are also conducting studies on a similar topic.
The implication of the practice is that it will assist the nurses in improving the working better. It is because the factors have been highlighted and this will assist the nurses in managing the working better and try to reduce the error. With this study and findings nurses will be in a position to manage the working better and enhance the capability well.
