1.A: Introduction

In human history, one of the darkest timelines is the pandemic caused by COVID-19 which had a substantial impact on multiple aspects worldwide such as healthcare, the economy, and social care. In this particular period, most of the developed countries including the United Kingdom have suffered dramatically. The line chart indicates the upturn in the quantity of newly infected persons in the time of three waves. The number of newly infected people is highest in the time of second wages which is 4580. However, due to the influence of the lockdown and specific healthcare measurements, the number of infected dropped significantly in the following times. New variants of the COVID-19 Virus such as Delta and Omicron caused temporary spikes in the graph which resulted in increasing challenges for public health responses and straining resources.

1.B.2: Effects of COVID-19 In UK’s Healthcare Sector

The healthcare organizations of the United Kingdom suffered significant and unparalleled challenges in the time of outbreak of the coronavirus and the start of the COVID–19 Pandemic period. The hospitals of the country were fully overwhelmed in the peak time of the virus or the waves which resulted in delay and negligence in all the non-COVID treatments and surgeries (Freedman, 2023). The high working stress and the dangerous environment have completely devoured the frontline workers of the UK’s healthcare system. Those healthcare staff and workers are reported to decree in mental health due to the long working hours and the emotional burden of the poor health condition of the patients.

In the following month, the healthcare system of the country was able to manage the death ratio by implementing lockdowns and other healthcare restrictions However, due to upcoming waves and variants, the death also increased in the month of November which is 22952.

The results of the COVID-19 pandemic and coronavirus are not only shown in healthcare but also in the economy of the UK. The economic fallout of the UK due to COVID-19 is very profound and makes it the worst scenario for the country. The lockdown resulted in the closure of most of the smaller businesses, particularly in the hospitality and retail industry. This led to multiple job losses and increasing unemployment in the country (Victor et al. 2021). The unemployment rate of the country was at its peak in the time of 2021. According to the records Office of National Statistics, during the time of the first national lockdown between the month of April to June in the year 2020, the GDP of the UK decreased to 19.4% (ons.gov.uk, 2021).

The above figure shows the monthly unemployment data of the UK in 2021 with the aim of highlighting the jobs lost in the country due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. According to the bar chart, it has been identified that the highest number of job losses occurred in the month of October which is nearly 1773000. In the upcoming time of lockdown, the UK has been able to maintain the high unemployment number through the implementation of government initiatives.

During the outbreak of COVID-19 and the initiation of lockdown time, the social life of the people of the UK suffered a directive change. The influence of the healthcare laws and restrictions of the Pandemic period such as restrictions on huge gatherings, shut down of schools and businesses, and work from home has been included in the daily routine of the people (Onyeaka et al. 2021). Many people and patients had to suffer from social isolation which resulted in increasing their anxiety and depression levels. However, there are also some positive aspects that occurred in the time of COVID-19 such as an increase the community engagements where people came together to support the less fortunate people through the supply of food and medical support. The people also learned to discover and present their inner hobbies and talents through digital connections.

1.C: Conclusion

The conducted analysis using the relevant data and information concludes that COVID-19 has made an unforgettable mark on the health system, economic stability, and the social life of the UK. The healthcare system also shows high resilience to the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic with the help of emergency laws and actions. However, the economy of the country is not protected at that level which results in several deep impacts. Those two aspects are highly connected with the daily social life of the people who have suffered from multiple restrictions. In the end, the COVID-19 pandemic in the UK shows the importance of collective actions, adaptability, and improved healthcare infrastructure in times of national emergency situations.
