Main Body
With the help of the photographs, it is clear that in the video the young toddlers are learning different things by playing together. For instance, one girl found her photo and then the caretaker asked her to give a photo of Andrew to him, she ran towards Andrew to give the photo. This signifies that the girl knows that the photo belongs to Andrew and he also knows who Andrew is (Jones, 2022). Further in the video, it was seen that Ethan another child understood that in the mirror he could see his reflection in case he stood in front of it. This implies that children tend to learn that in the mirror they can see their reflection and also when Ethan saw that camera he realised that he was on the screen and they were happy seeing their reflection. Further, towards the end of the video, Ethan was asked to name the people present in the picture and while seeing one of the children he called the other child a baby.
With this it can be understood Andrew knew that a small child is called a baby and because of this instead of taking her name he addressed him as a baby. This learning relates to outcome 1 of EYLF that the children have a strong sense of identity as the first girl was capable of identifying the photographs of Andrew and she gave him his photograph as well (BELONGING, BEING & BECOMING, 2022). It is due to the reason that there was a high sense towards identity. Also, outcome 5 was met during this learning session. This outcome states that children are effective communicators and this was seen when the girl was asked to keep the photo of Andrew in the rack she was not able to and asked for help (Australian Government Department of Education [AGDE]. 2022). This simply implies that the girl knew that at this point, she needed the help of others and as a result, she called for help. It means that the children are effective communicators as they tend to communicate well and as a result of this the overall development and learning of the children takes place.
Further, by referring to Piaget’s cognitive developmental theory, it is clear that child development is very crucial for successful learning and development. According to this cognitive developmental theory, it is clear that this theory emphasises on cognitive development process (Nicholas and Rouse, 2021). This cognitive development includes the changes which take place in the cognitive process and the capability of the child to learn and remember. This emphasis on the development of the child also guides them to grow well and consider their overall physical, mental and emotional development.

With the above analysis, it is clear that the children are learning well while interacting with others. It is due to the reason that when the children sit together then they tend to learn better and as a result of this the overall development takes place (Putri et al, 2024). The two lesson plans will be created and one will be on explaining colourful shapes and the other will focus on making the children learn about the different alphabets and their sounds with the help of phonics.
Lesson focus The current lesson plan focuses on developing knowledge of the children relating to the shapes. This, plan aims at attaining the EYLF outcome 4 as when the children are in a position to learn better then they will be more confident and also will be involved in different learning activities. Thus, as a result of this, the overall development of the children will take place and it will be beneficial for the development of the child. |
Learning objective To enhance the knowledge of children of different shapes and colours together |
Materials needed Colour sheets Pen Kids safety scissors Projectors |
Activity The activity will include providing the different coloured sheets and the different stencils of the shapes. The children will be provided with different coloured sheets and stencils of different shapes. On the projector, one shape will come and the child will have to take the same colour sheet and cut the same shape which is being displayed on the projector. This activity will develop the knowledge of the child relating to the colours and the different shapes. |
Assessment For the assessment of the development of the position of the child, the assessment techniques of KPI will be used. Here the performance indicator is the image displayed on the projector and the actual shape made by the child will be compared to the indicator. In case the colour of the shape and the shape are the same then it will be assessed that the child has a clear knowledge of both the colour and the shapes as well. |
Environment and safety measurement To ensure better development of the children, it is assumed a safe and secure environment will be provided to children. Also for safety purposes, the kid's paper scissors are provided which are not at all sharpened and it used only to cut paper. |
Lesson plan 2
Lesson focus This particular lesson plan aims at making the child understand the different alphabets and their pronunciation that is phonics. In different languages, the way of pronouncing the word is different and with the help of phonics, this can be easily taught to children. This plan will help in attaining the EYLF outcome 2 as with the development of phonics, the child will be more connected with others and will be contributing much to the group. |
Learning objective The objective of this lesson plan is to make children able to differentiate between familiar and unfamiliar words based on the sound while speaking that particular word. |
Materials needed Sound mat pack Phonics songs Access to internet and sound system Different phonics games Phonics worksheets Phonics CVC PowerPoint |
Activities For the teaching of phonics firstly I will be selecting the particular words which need to be taught to the student. It is due to the reason that there are a range of different pronunciations which are different and the child must learn well. For instance the word taught is ‘ACT’ then it will be speaking every letter individually and also together. This individual and together pronunciation of the words will assist the child in understanding it well. Also, compliance with the phonics songs, alphabet songs and the sound mat pack will be assistive in managing and making the child learn about the sound of different letters. |
Assessment For the assessment of the child, the analysis of the student will be made while taking the test. Within the test, I will be pronouncing the letter in different languages and the child has to guess the name accordingly. Also, another way of assessing the capability and learning of the children is that the word will be spoken and the child has to guess another similar word from that letter only. This will assist in analysing whether the child is capable of guessing the correct name and letters or not in the correct way of pronunciation. |
With the evaluation of the above analysis, it is clear that play-based learning is a good concept or method which is assistive in managing the work well. When the appropriate technique is used by the educator then the children are happier learning the new things well. With the help of the video, it was clear that while playing in a group the children tend to learn more as compared to when the child is playing alone (Arthur et al, 2020). It is due to the reason that every child is different and as a result, other children tend to learn much better from other students. It is due to the reason that the children try to copy one another and resultantly they learn better.
Also, with the help of the lesson plan, it is clear that the shapes and phonics can be effectively taught to the children. The lesson plan is structured and it outlines the material needed and how the activity will be performed to train the children to learn the different colours, shapes and phonics as well. In the current lesson plan, play-based learning is compiled and it ensures that a better and more effective type of learning environment is provided to the children. When play-based learning is used then it creates a happier and good environment for the children and it assists in managing and learning new concepts well (Irving and Carter, 2018). Further, compliance with the holistic approach to child development is also assistive in improving the overall working and as a result of this, the overall growth of the child takes place. It emphasises developing the skills of the children like communication, teamworking, coordination and many other different types of skills which will be helpful for the children in future working.
